558.366 Nicarbazin. Specifications: Type A medicated articles containing: 25 percent nicarbazin. Conditions of use: Chickens (broilers) Amount: 113.5 (0.0125 percent) grams Nicarbazin per ton of feed in combination with Roxarsone 22.7 (0.0025) grams per ton of feed. Indications: Aid in preventing outbreaks of cecal (Eimeria tenella) and intestinal (E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. necatrix and E. brunetti) coccidiosis; for increased rate of weight gain. Limitations: Feed continuously as sole ration from time chicks are placed on litter until past the time when coccidiosis is ordinarily a hazard. As sole source of organic arsenic. Do not use a treatment for coccidiosis. Do not use in flushing mashes. Do not feed to laying hens. Withdraw 5 days before slaughter. NAS/NRC status: These conditions are NAS/NRC reviewed and deemed effective. Applications for these uses need not include effectiveness data specified by 514.111 of this chapter. |

Tolerances for total residues of combined arsenic (calculated as Arsenic) in food are established as follows: a. Chickens and turkeys (edible tissues): (1) 0.5 part per million in uncooked muscle tissue. (2) 2 parts per million in uncooked edible by-products. b. Chicken and turkey eggs: 0.5 part per million c. Swine (edible tissues): (1) 2 parts per million in uncooked liver and kidney. (2) 0.5 part per million in uncooked muscle tissue and by-products other than liver and kidney. A tolerance of 4 parts per million is established for residues of nicarbazin in uncooked chicken muscle, liver, skin, and kidney. |
