Dosage Amount, Indications & Limitations |
558.76 Bacitracin methylene disalicylate. Specifications: Type A medicated articles: 10, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, or 75 grams per pound. Conditions of use: Limitations: No limitations are included in the CFR for this species when using this product in this amount. Turkeys Amount: 4 to 50 grams per ton of feed. Indications: Increased rate of weight gain and improved feed efficiency. Limitations: No limitations are included in the CFR for this species when using this product in this amount. 558.369 Nitarsone. Specifications: Type A medicated articles: 50 percent Conditions of use: Turkeys Amount: Nitarsone, 0.01875 percent. Indications: As an aid in the prevention of blackhead. Limitations: Early medication is essential to prevent spread of disease. Adequate drinking water must be provided near feeder at all times. The drug is not effective in preventing blackhead in birds infected more than 4 or 5 days. Discontinue use 5 days before slaughtering animals for human consumption to allow elimination of the drug from edible tissues. The drug is dangerous for ducks, geese, and dogs. Overdosage or lack of water may result in leg weakness or paralysis. Use as sole source of arsenic. NAS/NRC status: These conditions of use are NAS/NRC reviewed and found effective. NADA's for these uses may not require effectiveness data as by 514.111 of this chapter, but may require bioequivalency and safety information. |

Tolerances for total residues of combined arsenic (calculated as Arsenic) in food are established as follows: a. Chickens and turkeys (edible tissues): (1) 0.5 part per million in uncooked muscle tissue. (2) 2 parts per million in uncooked edible by-products. b. Chicken and turkey eggs: 0.5 part per million c. Swine (edible tissues): (1) 2 parts per million in uncooked liver and kidney. (2) 0.5 part per million in uncooked muscle tissue and by-products other than liver and kidney. The tolerance for residues of bacitracin from zinc bacitracin or bacitracin methylene disalicylate in uncooked edible tissues of cattle, swine, chickens, turkeys, pheasants, and quail, and in milk and eggs is 0.5 part per million |
