526.1696b Penicillin G procaine-dihydrostreptomycin in soybean oil for intramammary infusion (dry cows). Specifications: Each 10-milliliter of suspension contains penicillin G procaine equivalent to 200,000 units of penicillin G and dihydrostreptomycin sulfate equivalent to 300 milligram of dihydrostreptomycin, in a soybean oil vehicle Conditions of use: Cattle (dairy cows) Amount: One syringe into each quarter at the last milking prior to drying off. Indications: Intramammary treatment of subclinical mastitis in dairy cows at the time of drying off, specifically against infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus agalactiae. Limitations: Not to be used within 6 weeks of calving. For use in dry cows only. Milk taken from cows within 24 hours (2 milkings) after calving must not be used for food. Animals infused with this drug must not be slaughtered for food within 60 days of treatment nor within 24 hours after calving. |

Tolerances are established for residues of dihydrostreptomycin in uncooked, edible tissues of cattle and swine of 2.0 parts per million (ppm) in kidney and 0.5 ppm in other tissues, and 0.125 part per million in milk. Tolerances are established for residues of penicillin and the salts of penicillin in food as follows: a. In cattle: 0.05 part per million (negligible residue) in the uncooked edible tissues b. In chickens, pheasants, quail, swine, and sheep: zero in the uncooked edible tissues c. In milk or any processed food in which milk has been used: zero d. In eggs: zero e. In turkeys: 0.01 part per million in the uncooked edible tissues |
