522.1044 Gentamicin sulfate injection. Specifications: Each milliliter of sterile aqueous solution contains the equivalent of 50 milligrams of gentamicin. Conditions of use: Dogs Amount: 2 milligrams of gentamicin per pound of body weight, twice daily on the first day, then once daily. Administer intramuscularly or subcutaneously. Indications: For use in the treatment of urinary tract infections (cystitis) caused by Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. Limitations: If no improvement is seen after 3 days treatment should be discontinued and the diagnosis reevaluated. Treatment not to exceed 7 days. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. |

A tolerance of 0.1 part per million is established for negligible residues of gentamicin sulfate in the uncooked edible tissues of chickens and turkeys. Tolerances are established for total residues of gentamicin in edible tissues of swine as follows: 0.1 part per million in muscle, 0.3 part per million in liver, and 0.4 part per million in fat and kidney. |
